NEW PROJECT - "SHREE JAKHANISTHAN BASIC SCHOOL COMPLEX"
Hanuman Onlus got to know the village community, the school committee and the Dean, dating back to 2007. Since then, every year, we have returned to visit, bringing them school supplies and basic necessities for small pupils.
The village community is very poor. It is made up of families, who live thanks to the tillage and fishing, in the nearby Sunkoshi River.
The school, consisting of two very old and dilapidated structures, urgently needed to be completely demolished and rebuilt.
It was in our plans!
The earthquake of 25 April 2015 made the entire structure completely unusable, forcing the students to attend outdoor lessons, for long months, in a temporary structure specifically built in bamboo, at the mercy of the adverse weather conditions and especially of the summer monsoons .
In agreement with the community and the principal of the school, we studied a project for a new school complex, which included two classroom wings, a hostel, the office for teachers and toilets. All built according to the new anti-seismic criteria. The principal of the school, a figure of reference and very dedicated to his mission as a teacher, involved the whole community to raise the necessary funds for the purchase of a piece of land adjacent to the school area, to make room for the construction of the new complex .
Working together for several months, the project took shape, as did the cost plan.
FIRST STEP ... THE SCHOOL WILL BE DEDICATED TO
In memory of his father Mario, a Veronese businessman, who has supported us for many years, decides to finance the construction of an entire school building.
The works, which began in 2019, were almost completed, for the inauguration party scheduled for the end of March 2020, but the lockdown for COVID-19 has momentarily stopped the final steps.
The unskilled workers have returned to their villages of origin and the students have all stayed at home.
Our mission in Nepal of March 2020 has been postponed to a date to be defined.
SECOND STEP ... THE HOSTEL WILL BE DEDICATED TO "ANNA DE MARINIS"
In March 2020, we hear the sad news of the sudden and premature death of Anna, the historical collaborator of Adventures in the World.
In the midst of the lockdown, the great demonstration of affection of the many friends who had known her for years and who had spent many beautiful moments with her during her long and lively presence in the AnM offices could not be shared.
To remember her in a special way, knowing how much she loved Nepal, an extraordinary fundraiser started from Adventures in the World. A hostel will be built to accommodate many young students, who need a safe structure to live in, guaranteeing them regular school attendance.
The direction of Adventures in the World, friends, coordinators and all the people involved in this initiative, have shown real participation and great generosity. In a few days, the fundraising goal that will allow the complete execution of the project was achieved.
The "Shree Jakhanisthan Basic School" will become the "Shree Jakhanisthan Basic School Complex" in a few months.
Thanks Thanks Thanks to everyone.
